TRAC Sponsors Community Awards
5th December 2011
TRAC was delighted to be part of the Cornwall Community Foundation Annual Awards 2011 earlier this month when it sponsored the charity’s Special Recognition award.
The Awards ceremony, which took place at Tremough, on Thursday 17th November, recognised organisations which have made a huge difference to the disadvantaged in their local communities.
Daphne Skinnard, Deputy Editor at BBC Radio Cornwall and trustee of the foundation hosted the evening with help from Anne Carlisle, Rector of Tremough who presented the commemorative plates to the winners.
"Each of the organisations receiving awards tonight has made a real and positive contribution to the lives of those they support. They should all be rightly proud of what they do,” said James Williams, Chairman of the Cornwall Community Foundation.
The Special Recognition award was one of 5 categories presented on the night which TRAC was privileged to give to Lady Mary Holborow in acknowledgement of her significant contribution to the county. Lady Mary was the first chairman of the Cornwall Community Foundation and has had a huge involvement in Cornwall over the years, not only with the foundation and the Lord Lieutenant’s Fund for Youth but she is also president of many other community groups and assists in helping those in need.
“The awards are a fantastic event to help celebrate the contributions made by so many organisations that are having real significant impacts on the day to day lives of people in Cornwall who need it the most. We were delighted we could help support and recognise the very valuable work they do” said Sarah Trethowan, TRAC’s company director.
