Truro College Football Team on TRAC for Success

25th February 2011

TRAC are delighted to be sponsoring the highly talented Truro College Football team this season and have been helping them celebrate their recent success.

Just over half way through the season and Truro College Men’s first team continue to dominate the top position in the BCS NCFL Football Men’s South league.  They have won all ten of their matches played this season and are 9 points clear at the top.  “Our last game saw us beat Bridgwater College 3-0 away from home. The team played very well against one of our strongest opponents and in the end could have won by more after hitting the woodwork 3 times” said Mike Vanes, the team’s coach and Head of Truro College Football Development Centre.

The team continues their success in the British Schools Colleges National Football Cup where they are through to the Quarter Finals.  They play City College Plymouth for a chance to reach the semi-finals that take place at the end of March.  “The team are having a fantastic season and we have a really strong chance of progressing to the finals again” said Mike.

There’s individual success too as the team’s centre back, Mo Sabo, has been selected for the England Colleges team and will be playing against the home nations as well as Australia and Spain soon.

“It’s fantastic to see the team performing so well.  We’ve been following them throughout the season and are thrilled with their achievements to date.  There is a great emphasis on training and teamwork here at TRAC and this is clearly the case at Truro College given their success, the sponsorship has been a natural fit” said Jonathan Trethowan, Company Director.

The College is one of only 27 in the country to be named as an FA/BCS Focus College – the pinnacle status available to a college in terms of its football development.
