TRAC's Director Appointed Trustee at Heartlands

26th January 2011

Sarah Trethowan, company director at TRAC is delighted to have been recently appointed as a trustee for the Heartlands Project based in Pool, Cornwall.  Sarah is one of 12 members of the board appointed to oversee the Project which will open in the autumn this year.

Heartlands is a £35 million scheme that will transform a derelict 19-acre former mining site in Pool, Cornwall into a self-sustaining development for the local community and destination for visitors. The landmark site will celebrate local culture, heritage and the natural environment.  It will create workspace, community space and flats for lease and hire to complement the World Heritage Site Gateway Centre as well as performance and event areas, community facilities and play and relaxation spaces.

Scott James, programme director at Heartlands said "The board we have appointed to run the trust consists of some extraordinary individuals who have a wealth of experience and knowledge to bring to the project."

The community-led social enterprise is funded by the Big Lottery Fund, Cornwall Council, Homes and Communities Agency and European Funding.  It will be handed over to the trust to run when it opens in autumn.

Sarah said “I’m very excited to be a part of a project that will generate major social and economic benefits to the local community and play a significant role in the regeneration of Cornwall.”
