TRAC Supports Men in Business Event

24th January 2011

Graham Donaldson, Senior Regulatory Affairs Executive at Redruth-based TRAC, was guest speaker recently at a “Men in Business” Day for local secondary schools.  The event, held near Newquay, Cornwall, was attended by almost fifty year 10 boys (aged 14-15) from Wadebridge School and Penryn College who are taking courses in Business Studies.

The event, designed to encourage students to think about potential career opportunities, included a series of presentations from four male guest speakers from local businesses that described their jobs and career paths to date.  Working in groups, students were then given different business challenges to solve and present back to guest speakers in a competition at the end of the day.

Graham joined TRAC through the Unlocking Cornish Potential Scheme (UCP) in 2005 after completing a BSc Honours Degree in Biology and MSc in Environmental Science.  “Many of the students were unaware of the role regulatory affairs professionals have within the pharmaceutical industry until today so it was a great opportunity to provide an insight into a successful niche business,” said Graham.

The event was organised by Cornwall Education Business Partnership, “The Men in Business Day is an excellent opportunity for the students to find out about the different career and business opportunities available to them. The students will be doing work experience placements later in the year and this has been excellent preparation for that” said Kate Whetter, Education Projects Manager.
