We're committed to minimising our impact on the environment, which is why we've appointed an Environmental Manager to make sure we all do everything possible to meet and exceed all environmental regulations, laws and codes of practice.
TRAC operates from offices at The Pool Innovation Centre (PIC) in Pool, Redruth. The building is rated 'Excellent' by BREEAM (the leading, most widely used environmental assessment method for buildings). This helps to keep our environmental impact low, but on top of that we:
- Buy wherever possible from local suppliers with sustainable environmental policies.
- Save as much paper as we can, recycle waste material (paper, cardboard, plastic, cans), use recycled stationery and offset paper-use by planting local trees.
- Coordinate our use of couriers to keep callouts to a minimum wherever possible.
- Encourage the use of public transport, car sharing and walking to work where practical. We're also part of PIC's Green Transport Group, so we actively try to devise and deliver sustainable transport and parking links for all the building's tenants.
Planet Positive
In November 2012, we committed to completing the 'Planet Positive 7 Days to Sustainability' campaign. The thinking behind this national campaign is to help small to medium sized businesses see sustainability not just as good for the planet but to see, also, that it helps with cost savings, energy efficiency, resource-use and travel, as well as marketing and employee engagement. Over seven days we received expert advice on all these topics; this has given us fresh insights and renewed impetus to manage our impact on the environment.
